About Jim Bogey

Cartoon Jim Bogey is a working guy with a day job, a secondhand bag, and a level of optimism that no scorecard has ever justified. He plays public courses across Southern California, mostly municipal tracks, usually before work, occasionally instead of lunch.

He is trying to get better. He mostly isn't. He carries a 2011 driver he calls The Regret, plays with a friend who is suspiciously good, and keeps a rotating list of excuses that has so far blamed the wind, his shoes, and at least one planet.

Sometimes his brothers come along: Pete, who keeps score honestly and ruins everything; Chris, who swears a format called Whack, Fudge! is real; and Pat, a lefty with a brand-new driver who is already catching up. They are all better company than Jim's golf.

New stories show up every other Friday morning, each set at a different course, each with one illustration and one honest-ish scorecard.
